Which type of blankets are best for winter?
Whether you live in sunny California or deep in Montana, everyone loves an ultra-soft, cozy blanket that you can cuddle up in while you look at your Christmas Tree.
While cute trending blankets are always a fun addition to your decor – sometimes you need something more high-quality, especially if you live near the cold!
Before you go out and purchase a cozy throw, you want to consider a few different things. You’ll want to find one that has thick, insulating materials that will keep you warm but isn’t toooo hot.
If you want to focus on fabric – think about a fleece blanket, flannel, quilted cotton, or even a warm sherpa throw.
Are cashmere blankets worth it?
Let’s be real – cashmere blankets can be spendy! But, if it’s something you think you’ll use throughout the year, it could be worth it.
Personally, I think cashmere blankets are worth it because of the quality. They’re a bit warmer than sheep’s wool blanket, but are thinner – so it’s still lightweight and airy. It does get a bit annoying to have to hand wash them – but honestly, I find them to be a great accessory for my living room.
What are the warmest throw blankets?
Before buying a blanket – make sure you do your research, don’t just grab whatever is in stock! We get it – you can be swayed by the softest blanket around or that one cotton blanket available for store pickup – but don’t do it! At least if you want a realllllyyyy warm blanket for winter. If so, make sure to grab one made of these materials.
You’re going to find thicker blankets are going to keep you the warmest – just like a bed blanket or your king duvet – heavier = warmer. Wool blankets, cotton fleece throw blankets, and cashmere blankets are going to keep you the warmest. If you want to take it a step further, you can try an electric blanket that warms you up automatically.
While a faux fur throw blanket or luxe plush throw may feel like a soft blanket, it typically isn’t going to be the warmest.
