Having had a baby just a few months ago, I’m pretty up to date on the things I value in my home to make my life a little easier and keep myself sane. I have several friends who are having babies in the next few months and I like to get them practical gifts that also are a little unique and personalized. And being a DIY/Craft blogger, sometimes it’s hard to match both a practical and DIY gift…but I thought of a fun new way to score big with your new mom friend and blow her away with your creativity! I am showing you this easy Diaper Genie Baby Gift Idea!
Here’s what you need:
Diaper Genie Pail
3 Diaper Genie Refills (+ by buying three you get a $25 SpaFinder gift card…details below)
Thick Ribbon and Fabric
Scissors and Hot Glue
I started by putting one of my refills into my Diaper Genie so that the whole thing was already set up for the mother to be. I like using Diaper Genie because it helps keep Elise’s nursery smelling fresh and it saves us time running upstairs and downstairs to throw out the diapers all the time. Because if we accidentally throw them out in the bathroom garbage they 1. stink and 2. our dog gets into them (yuck!).
From there I wrapped the thick burlap ribbon around the center of my Diaper Genie and hot glued it around the back. The nice thing about using hot glue is that on plastic it’s fairly easy to remove, so it’s not a super permanent thing…don’t worry!
Next I created a cute fabric bow in a fabric that matched the nursery (in this case my nursery) for the mom to be. I use Crafted Sparrow’s Bow Tutorial to create my bows.
Finally, I used scrap-booking letters to put my daughter’s name on the pail…but in the event it’s for a gender neutral shower or the baby’s name isn’t yet decided, you can always just write “Baby” or something like “Dirty Diapers” or something cute on the front.
Once you’re done you can either wrap up the refills or just leave them on top of the Diaper Genie for the mom to be. You could even wrap the whole thing in cellophane and put a bow on top to make it more special.
The best part though…right now Diaper Genie has teamed up with SpaFinder and when you purchase 3 Diaper Genie refills at Target you can redeem it online (with a receipt) to get a $25 SpaFinder gift card online through THIS link (while supplies last).
How fun is that? Purchase 3 refills and you get an extra $25 SpaFinder gift card for you OR for the mom to be!! The idea is simple, save a copy of your receipt and when you get home you text a photo of your receipt as directed on THIS website. They’ll text you right back confirming your claim and then you follow the instructions to redeem your gift card. So now I have $25 waiting for me to enjoy, all by purchasing 3 Diaper Genie refills!
So now you have it! A practical gift, personalized and DIYed to show off your MAD crafting skills! Throw in a fun DIY Diaper and Wipes case like THIS from Crazy Little Projects to match your bow and you’ll have the perfect Baby Gift Idea!
I hope this gets your creativity juices flowing for the next baby shower you attend…you can still purchase off your friend’s registry and make a fun and unique gift she’ll be sure to appreciate!
