Best Christmas Door Decorations for 2023
Looking for the best Christmas door decorations? Well, love it or hate it, Christmas is going to be here before you know it. For me, the weeks and even few months leading up to Christmas are SO hectic. We have Halloween and then family over for Thanksgiving, and it just seems as though time loves to get away from me. So, come the second week of December, I’m always last-minute searching for the best holiday decor for my front porch, so my house has at least SOME curb appeal.
I don’t want you to feel my pain. Therefore, I’ve put together the best Christmas door decorations for 2021 – so you can get into the holiday cheer without having a mental breakdown!
What do you put on your door for Christmas?
Personally, I love greenery. Therefore, Christmas always allows me to go all out with fresh, straight out of the woods greenery. Think traditional wreaths with decorative bows.
In addition to this, I love setting lanterns on my porch for some extra Christmas cheer. I love Christmas lights – but only in gold. I’m not a huge fan of multi-colored lights…really ever…but hey, if you like it – go for it!
Some people love to go all out for that holiday spirit and decorate their door as a literal Christmas present. Talk about a classic Christmas!
Last year, I saw someone hang a pair of old ice skates with mistletoe in the shoe adorned with gold ornaments. It was so classy and cute!
Lastly, there are a lot of DIY projects for a DIY Christmas. For instance, think door hangings and other decorations. Also, I’ve seen some people decorate with pine cones and burlap. Or, I’ve seen some great handmade holiday wreaths.
What colors are Christmas colors?
Well, the traditional Christmas colors are red and green. However, a lot of people like to add gold and silver when decorating their holiday door.
Heck, Christmas can be whatever color scheme you want it to be!
How do you hang a wreath on your front door?
There are a couple ways that you can hang a Christmas wreath on your front door.
To begin, one method is to use an over-the-door wreath hook or hanger. These babies are typically made of metal, and are super easy to use. Basically, one end fits over the top edge of your door and the other end is designed to hold your wreath. However, I do try to find hangers with felt padding so my door paint doesn’t get scratched up.
Secondly, another method is a magnetic door hanger. I recommend utilizing this option if you’re hanging a wreath (or really anything) on a window or a glass door. Grab a friend, hold the magnetic side to the door or window and have said friend stand on the other side of the door. Then, place the second magnet directly over the first so the hooks are secured.
Thirdly, you can simply use ribbon. Even red ribbon, if you’re feeling festive! Here, you want to measure the distance between the top of the door and where you want your wreath to sit.
Then, you’ll cut that ribbon two times that amount plus three inches. Next, slip the ribbon around the wreath and knot it about 1 inch from the end. Here, you’ll form a loop. Center the wreath, use a staple gun (or hot glue) to make sure it stays and TA DA! The perfect outdoor Christmas decoration.
