What should I put on my porch in the winter?
It can be a challenge to decorate your front porch during the winter season. After the Christmas tree and holiday decor has come down, it can be hard to find other front porch decorating ideas for winter. So, here are some ideas for your winter porch decor!
Firstly, incorporate decor that screams winter. For instance, if you live in a warmer climate, put out some greenery such as potted evergreens. Or, if you live in a colder climate, use pinecones as a front porch focal point.
Secondly, evergreen branches are one of my favorite home decor ideas for winter. You can purchase them at your local garden center. Plus, they’re a budget-friendly and easy decor option.
Thirdly, string lights are one of my favorite winter porch looks. While multi-colored lights are popular during the holiday season, I prefer natural gold string lights lining your entryway to ring in the New Year!
Lastly, you can’t go wrong with some vintage ski equipment. For example, I love putting out a pair of old skis or ice skates. One year I even found a vintage wooden sled that looked great on my front porch.
How do I decorate my outside entryway?
Above, I gave you some ideas on how to incorporate outdoor winter decor into your front porch look. However, if you’re still stuck, here are some tips on how to get your outdoor decor wheels turning.
I’d suggest first picking a theme. For example, do you want to go with a vintage ski equipment look or a cozy winter wonderland complete with evergreen wreaths on the winter door?
Then, think about your budget. Are you going to want to buy decor online or at your local garden shops? Or, do you want to rely on DIY projects?
How can I make my front porch more attractive?
Like I said above, first stick with a theme! Often times, I like to set the scene for my home interior decor through my front porch. My indoor style is a modern farmhouse look. Therefore, I often base my outdoor porch decor based off the modern farmhouse design.
Incorporating greenery is also a great way to make your front porch look more attractive. Find a winter wreath or a boxwood that you can plant in a handmade burlap potter sack.
