I spent years whipping up flapjacks for the whole family pancake by pancake on a small pan. Therefore, as I’m sure you can imagine, it was an extremely painful and slow process. However, when I bought a pancake griddle, I realized that I could cook SO many hotcakes all on one surface.

What are the best qualities of a griddle?

Firstly, you want to think about all of your pancake cooking needs. For example, do you want your griddle pan to have a non-stick surface? Personally, I prefer cooking pancakes on a nonstick griddle rather than a cast iron griddle because it makes for easy cleaning. Or, maybe you even want a griddle that is dishwasher safe.

Secondly, you want to make sure that your griddle can handle high levels of heat. Therefore, you want your griddle to not only be heavy-duty but also high-quality so your pancakes, fried eggs, hash browns, whatever you’re making can cook thoroughly.

Thirdly, you want your griddle to have good heat control and heat distribution. You want to make sure that your pan has the ability to heat up evenly, and maintain good temperature control while cooking. Personally, I like griddles that have an adjustable temperature so everyone’s pancake preferences can be met.

Lastly, investing in a pancake pan allows you a larger cooking area so you can whip up some hotcakes for the whole family! Or, makes some flapjacks AND some crepes at the same time. I mean who doesn’t love a large cooking surface!?
