What do you love most about summer? The weather? The tasty treats? The freedom of having the kids out of school?ย One thing I love most about summer is the FOOD! I love cookouts, fresh fruit, corn on the cob, sweet tea, and most of all…tasty desserts. So today I thought I’d share a family recipe from my great grandmother that is so simple and SO perfect for summer! It’s a frozen fruit dessert!

This recipe sounds so light and refreshing….perfect for our HOT Charleston summer days!!! We love eating cold treats on hot days.

I have a question about adding the butter. I understand everything else in the recipe but must admit I’m not sure about the butter. What does the butter add to this mixture? Have you made it without it, and if so, how did it turn out?

Thank you so much for your time.

Well, that’s just how we’ve always made it…otherwise it’s just fruit in cool whip ๐Ÿ™‚ The butter changes the consistency of the Cool Whip and bit and adds a buttery factor to the whole thing.

Was wondering if you ever tried this with watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew melons, if so how did it turn out? I have all 3 melons frozen from last summer and need to use them up!!!
