Summer has definitely started this year and luckily for us, we have some sweet neighbors to share the summer with us and make it more exciting. At the start of spring, we decided to get our kiddos a new trampoline for the backyard, so that they had something fun and athletic to do. We found a nice shade cover for the trampoline and it’s definitely been a hit. The kids feel like it turns into a little fort or hangout for them, so I thought, “Why not capitalize on that?” Today, I wanted to share with you how you can make your backyard trampoline into a fun Summer Trampoline Movie night in just a few steps! I headed up to Walgreens to get the snacks, including our favorite Butterfinger®, Crunch®,and Baby Ruth® bars, along with the bug spray—and we were ready to get our movie party started! I’ll walk you through this simple summer activity idea and how much my kiddos and the neighbor kids enjoyed having some time to relax on a beautiful summer evening.
What you need for an Outdoor Trampoline Movie Night:
- Tray
- Butterfinger, Crunch, and Baby Ruth fun size bars
- Graham Crackers
- Pretzels
- Popcorn
- Other snacks as desired
- Drinks
Other fun outdoor movie night touches:
- Blankets
- Bug spray
- Outdoor lights
- Glow sticks
- Pillows
- Sleeping Bags
- Streaming device (laptop or tablet)
So I started by heading up to my local Walgreens to pick up everything I needed. Our favorite candy bars in this house just happen to be Butterfingers, Crunch bars, and Baby Ruth bars. So I started with those, and then I grabbed a few other items like graham crackers, popcorn, pretzels, and vanilla wafers to pair with the candy. The candy was in the candy aisle, and then I headed to their food aisle for the rest of the snacks and drinks. Finally, I finished in the aisle with the outdoor stuff to pick up a misting fan and some bug spray. Walgreens literally had everything that I needed, so I was able to grab everything in one trip (score!). Then I headed home and got set up.
I needed something to put all the food on, so I grabbed a tray I had on hand and got to organizing…starting, of course, with our favorite candy bars. Once I had the candy bars down, I added in the other snacks around it to fill it in. When I brought it outside, the kids were SO excited!! Who doesn’t love a huge tray full of delicious goodies to share!
We love Butterfinger for the unique peanut-buttery flavor! They have that crispety crunchety texture that is delicious in recipes and baking. Crunch is a simple, classic favorite with chocolate and crisped rice, and does great for baking and recipes. And Baby Ruth has a new and improved recipe full of dry roasted peanuts, caramel and smooth nougat!
The whole thing came together beautifully. Then we tossed some blankets on the trampoline and put the laptop out there with their favorite movie. It just so happened that this very day we also brought home our brand new puppy, so she slept on the trampoline with the kiddos (no bouncing occurred), while they lounged around and enjoyed their snacks!
The kids had SO much fun, and it was fun to see them outside on a beautiful evening just hanging out and enjoying life. Between the six of them, they made short work of their little charcuterie board of delicious movie snacks and loved the puppy snuggles and friendly time they all had together. We can’t wait to do more movie nights together this summer! And fear not, if you don’t have a trampoline, there are other options! Consider putting up a tent in your backyard to accomplish the same goal. If you don’t have a top for your trampoline, consider draping a large blanket over top of it.
