If you haven’t noticed, I LOVE trying out and testing new recipes for my blog. Last week I shared two new baked goods that got rave reviews from my family. This week I am THRILLED with how my M&M Cheesecake Bars came together…they are so rich and soft and delicious and the pairing with the salty pretzel crust makes them irresistible. And even though it’s the holiday season, it’s not JUST a holiday treat! So today I’m going to walk you through how I made my most favorite dessert creation to date! I took them into work today with me for my coworkers and got several emails saying how amazing they were! They’re SO good you guys!
{full printable recipe is located at the bottom of this post}
You will need to start by making your pretzel crust….
First you’ll want to take several handfuls of pretzels, put them in a large bag, and work to crust them into small pieces. If my food processor hadn’t JUST broken, I’d probably have just put them in the food processor. From there you’ll want to add your butter and your brown sugar to the pretzels and press into the bottom of a 9×13 pan, then bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes.
While that’s baking, start combining your ingredients for the cheesecake.
Once your crust is done (and you’ll smell the delicious, buttery smell waifing from your oven), add your cheesecake to the top. A little of the crust lifted into my cheesecake, but just spread it gently and quickly because the crust is still warm. Then add back in the oven for another 30-35 minutes to bake.
When your timer reads about 10 minutes left with baking the cheesecake, get started on your chocolate frosting. The frosting is simple…one can of condensed milk and a bag of milk chocolate morsels.
Pour condensed milk and the whole bag of chocolate into a saucepan and cook slowly over low until completely melted. Stir well and frequently until it’s time to take your cheesecake out.
The consistency will be soft and creamy…just keep on low heat if you need extra time before your cheesecake is ready.
Once the cheesecake is out and has cooled for a few minutes (I didn’t let it cool all the way) gently pour your chocolate icing over top of the cheesecake evenly covering the whole thing, then use a spoon to spread it out.
Top generously with M&M’s and place in the refrigerator to cool. Cut into squares and serve with milk! Small squares would probably be the best way to go because this is a very rich dessert, but OH SO GOOD.

Just wondering if you can freeze these or how long they will keep in the fridge…..
Hi Laura, I’m not sure to be honest…I’ve never tried it. They last a few days in the fridge…I took them into work and we ate them for about 3 days.
I LOVE sweet and salty! That pretzel crust is genius! Looking forward to making these. Thanks, Abbey 🙂 Pinned and sharing!
