This past weekend my family came into town to celebrate Father’s Day. This week is also a special week for us because it’s our wedding anniversary, which also kicks off the first day of summer with Summer Solstice. Each summer we really try to get out and get going, even when it’s so easy to be deterred by the sun and heat. So this weekend we got our kids out, grabbed a slip n slide, and let them get playing while we sad on our shaded back deck and enjoyed the afternoon. Of course, no summer afternoon is complete without a midday treat, so I made this delicious Ice Cream Sundae Dessert Cheese Ball with Crackers for the occasion and NO one complained a bit!!
This dessert idea is super fun because the kids will love that it looks like a sundae, but isn’t one…and it’s fun and chocolatey and gooey and colorful. You can serve it with Nilla wafers, graham crackers, shortbread cookies—or even break up some waffle cones and serve it with actual ice cream cones!! It’s very easy to make and you can add all sorts of delicious toppings like you would normally with a sundae. And even better…if you don’t eat it all, you can store it and save it for later!
“Ice Cream Sundae” Cheese Ball Dessert Recipe
- cream cheese
- vanilla
- powdered sugar
- sugar
- HERSHEY’S Chocolate Spread
- Sprinkles
- Whipped Cream
Start by whipping together the cream cheese, vanilla, sugar and powdered sugar until creamy.
Using saran wrap. Pour the mixture into the saran wrap and then pull up all ends until it’s in the shape of a ball. Place in a bowl and place in the fridge or freezer until harder (freezer if you’re serving immediately, fridge if it’s next day).
Once it’s harder, remove the saran wrap, place in the waffle bowl and pour the chocolate spread over top of it.
Then add sprinkles, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. Serve with graham crackers and/or Nilla wafers and let everyone enjoy! It’s very fun and festive and your kids will love it!!
Let your kids decorate the top of their “sundae” with the spreads, some sprinkles, delicious HERSHEY’S chocolate chips, and whipped cream…all topped with a cherry. They’ll love getting the option of decorating it themselves and enjoying their tasty treat!
Little things like this don’t have to just be for when company comes over or for a special occasion–this is SUCH an easy dessert, it literally can be made in minutes and you can surprise your kids with every day moments to celebrate summer and just being a family.
This Summer, HERSHEY’S is helping families remember to create Hello Happy Moments by reminding you that you can choose happiness anywhere, at any time -whether it’s a yummy S’more after dinner, a delicious homemade baked treat shared on a Sunday afternoon that you helped make together or a quick trip to the playground with a sweet treat to follow, families can choose to find happy moments each day.
I hope you remember this summer that life’s big moments don’t always have to be BIG. They can be simple little things to make memories that last a lifetime, sometimes it’s the tiniest little moment that your child will cherish and remember forever.
Enjoy your summer!!
