We’ve had this old TV table on our front porch in all it’s unpainted glory since last fall. I started to put it out for a garage sale when I realized it would make the perfect “in between” table for my adirondack chairs on the front porch. So I kept it. Eventually months went by and the table has been an eyesore for a while. So this weekend I decided to give the table a quick makeover using DecoArt’s Chalky Finish paint in Yesteryear and Vintage.
What you need:
Paint brush
Wet rag/towel
Yesteryear and Vintage Chalky Paint from DecoArt
Tape
I started by carefully wiping my table off with a wet rag and then drying it thoroughly. Since it’s an outdoor table, it gets pretty dirty, so I want to start with a clean surface.
After the table is clean, I get painting! I love chalk paint for two reasons…one, no sanding is required (YAYAYAY!) and two, it dries quickly, which can also be problematic sometimes too. I like that it dries quickly though because it shortens the amount of time I have to spend letting it dry between coats. Depending on the furniture, you can get things done start to finish in as little as two hours because the paint dries so fast!!
After I painted it, I then took it to my front porch and used some tape to tape stripes on it. I wanted them to be kind of erratic (as opposed to carefully planned out even stripes) so I just taped carefully and then painted over it with vintage. Yesteryear was the base color of the table.
After the stripes were done, I gently removed the table and VOILA! Finally, I added a quick coat of varnish to protect it from the elements and it was all done!
It all took just a few hours and a little patience and it looks so much better now!
I’m so happy with how it all turned out….I’m going to be debuting the rest of my front porch update in a few weeks, so stay tuned!
