Cone Bookpage Wreath

Another homemade gift I made this year was a cone bookpage wreath for my mother.

If you recall, earlier this year I made a bookpage wreath for myself that I vowed to never make again. It took me nearly 4 months of on and off work to complete and over 565 pages of rosettes, so it truly was a labor of love–that I will never. EVER. MAKE. AGAIN. {I’ll be honest…even though I’m a self titled “crafter” I am extremely impatient and don’t enjoy crafts that take loads of time to complete…so the fact that this project took me several months to finish is what holds me back from doing it again. If you are a patient person that enjoys tedious work–you’ll enjoy this 😉 I don’t want to discourage ANYONE from making this…it’s just that I’m VERY impatient}.

When my mom mentioned she’d love a bookpage wreath, I knew there was no possible way I was going to do my rosette wreath again (did I mention that?), nor did I have the time. But there was another bookpage wreath I’d been wanting to try out that wasn’t nearly as hard to make. This bookpage wreath was inspired by the tutorial from Corner House. Use her guide to make this Bookpage Wreath–I’m not a tutorial stealer or anything. I did, however, modify a few things.

I used an actual foam wreath form (she made one) and mine is a lot bigger and fuller than hers because of that I think. I ended up using about 150 bookpages and probably 75 scrapbook pages–no worries, no “good” books were harmed in the  making of this wreath–only 1980’s books that were about to be tossed by my coworker. Everything else on this project I did the same as Corner House and I love how it turned out.

Best of all— my mom loved it, which is what I was really thrilled with. I really want to make one now for my house in the upstairs hallway…one can never have too many bookpage wreathes!! 😉 Hope you enjoyed and be sure to say hi at the Corner House and give her kudos on her darling Cone Book Wreath.

  1. You know, this is so nice to give as a gift thanking a library for all their programs and such. Since this one isn’t that time consuming, you’ve inspired me to make one for our library. I hope they like it?

  2. I love the color and the look of this wreath. I’ve done the rolled paper flowers before…if, for some reason, you ever decide on trying another…maybe do a smaller one? Another thing I do is use several sheets of paper at once go make the flowers larger, so it doesn’t take as many to fill up the wreath.
