Hello friends! It’s finally that time of year where I can officially start thinking about Christmas decorating and I’m so excited to be sharing a fun Candy Cane Inspired Christmas Tree this year as part of Treetopia’s Design Council for 2018! I’m definitely a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas decor because I like being able to buy timeless decorations for my house so I don’t have to break the bank every year trying to keep up with trends, but something that I was really excited to get was this White Christmas Tree this year from Treetopia to decorate with. We usually buy a live tree each Christmas, but there was something so pretty and whimsical about this white tree and my husband later told me that since he was a kid he’d always wanted a white Christmas tree–so that was pretty cool. Take a look at my simple Candy Cane Inspired Christmas tree for 2018!
So for this tree I purchased thick red and white striped ribbon from Michaels and I used it to wrap the tree. I used floral wire to tie it in place every 12″ or so. For decorations on the tree, I purchased large poinsettia flowers, a few fun options like the oversized candy cane and the elf feet sticking out, along with a large white and red striped bow on top of the tree. Then I added about 2 dozen fresh and white “sprigs” of berries and bells and decorations coming off the tree, which is a fun and easy way to make the white tree pop! Finally, I finished my tree off with these gorgeous ornaments from Treetopia that coordinate with my red and white theme, but also add a great pop of green into the tree!
We have this “unique” feature in our house where an old wood burning stove appears to have been removed, but the chimney stack remains in place. So we have a mantel without an actual fireplace to decorate around each year. I love this unique part of our home and really liked that the white tree we got this year was a perfect fit so that the Christmas tree could fit by the mantel this year!! To decorate this space, I used Treetopia’s Balsam Spruce Wreath to decorate over my mantel. The wreath comes with battery operated lights on it and I just slipped in some more berry sprigs *like I used in the tree* and then I wired some ornaments onto the wreath. Finally, I bought mini elf feet to coordinate with the tree and wired them into the wreath for a little fun element.
I like that each year I could theoretically mix up how this wreath is decorated with new bulbs, new sprigs, and updated ribbon or other decor. It’s all just wired in place!
Finally, I added this gorgeous Balsam Spruce Garland to my mantel. It comes pre-lit, so all I did was add some existing garland I had on hand, along with some white yarn pom garland and more bulbs wired on and it makes quite the statement!
I added on the stocking hangers we use each year and finally topped it all off with these cute white ceramic houses for a whimsical touch!
I had so much fun decorating my house for the holidays this year and hope that you get into your holiday decorating this year too!
