What is a bench called at dining table?
A banquette is an upholstered bench (typically with a backrest) used for dining areas. As we mentioned above, these benches were really popular in commercial settings – restaurants, bars, hotels, etc. However – people have started to move away from dining chairs and incorporate a backless bench or sofa/like tabl setting.
I have found that these dining room or kitchen benches are best for small spaces – and work well when you have a mixture of both chairs and bench seating.
Is dining table with bench good idea?
A dining table bench is a great addition to your dining furniture! Not only are dining room chairs a bit outdated – a bench dining set allows you to incorporate a more open concept floorplan. This is because they don’t break the visual flow of space.
Here are some other benefits:
Firstly, a breakfast nook or dining bench is a great addition to small spaces. Not only does it make the space look bigger, you can also buy a storage bench that doubles as storage space!
Secondly, benches are super comfortable and provide great accessibility. You can get creative – I’ve seen some people even put in ottomans or full-on sofas into their table. I’m not necessarily recommending that – however, any type of padded seat will allow guests to feel comfortable.
Thirdly, matching a kitchen table to a bench is honestly fairly easy. You can find an oakwood table with a bench that goes along with it – or even pair different types of upholstery. Options are endless!
