As I sit here now, watching the snow continue to blow, I can’t help but be excited for SPRING, which I believe is right around the corner (you wouldn’t know it to look outside)! We have lots of things to look forward to in spring time and most happily for me as a blogger is incorporating a ton of COLOR into my decor and crafts! So I thought it would be fun to craft up a little candy gift wreath using Skittles and Starbursts that you can gift to people as a housewarming gift, a welcome home present, a happy birthday gift for your kids bedroom doors or MORE depending on the occasion! It was EASY to make and I’m going to show you HOW today!!
I started by heading over to Sam’s Club to purchase my candy in bulk! They have a great 30 pack of Starburst and Skittles available for $14.98! That’s a great price considering purchasing individually would cost around $1.30 a bag…purchasing them this way is about 50 cents a bag!! You can see more about purchasing them HERE.
What you need for the wreath:
Wreath form (smaller one)
Roughly 11-12 bags of Skittles for the wreath and then 3 bags for the Skittles “bow”
2-3 packs of Starburst for the “garland”
Hot Glue
Cleaned/Sanitized Needle and Thread to make the garland
You first want to apply all your Skittles to the wreath using hot glue…this seems like it’ll take forever at first (I know it did for me), but then it sped up and took around 2-3 hours to cover the whole wreath…put a movie on, get a good working space, and just go for it.
And trust me, you’ll sneak a few candies while you’re going too…my 4 year old was in heaven…taking a few Skittles here and there throughout the project and declaring “WOW, mommy, that’s SOOOO pretty” about half way through. It’s a 4 year old’s dream craft, let’s be honest!
Once you get the wreath done, then I took three bags of Skittles and tied a ribbon around the center of them together to create a Skittles “bow” which is the more edible part of the gift!
Finally, I took two packs of Starburst and threaded them with a sanitized needle and thread and glued the thread ends to the back of the wreath. Now your recipient has three bags of Skittles and two packs of Starburst to enjoy!
And if you want to hang it on the front door of someone’s home as a little welcome home gift, it looks pretty spectacular on a front door too! I love how it turned out and I think it makes such a fun and unique gift for any occasion!
As seen on Sam’s Club website!

Dude, seriously, that would make
mesomeone want to try a piece of candy before knocking on the door =) Only a cool person would have a CANDY wreath on their door! I love the candy bow, too! Your daughter is right, it really is so pretty, mommy š <3This looks SO COOL! Thanks for the colorful idea! I think I’ll make one using peanut butter spread on the wreath (instead of using hot glue) and then stick the candies into the peanut butter. I intend to hang it on my deck and see if the squirrels and birds enjoy it!
