I was over at Darice a few weeks ago sharing this fun post on how to make your own soap! It’s SO simple…check it out!
I bet you never realized JUST how easy it is to create your own decorative and scented hand soaps!? Darice has a great variety of soaps to melt down, customize with color, and add amazing scent to! Today I’m showing you how to make homemade soap and how you can create gorgeous and personalized gifts easily and inexpensively!!
How to Make Homemade Soap Supplies:
- Darice Shea Butter Soap Block
- Darice Soap Molds (I used Flower and Oval)
- Darice Soap Dyes
- Fragrance Oils in Your Choice of Scent
Step 1. Start by cutting off 2-3 squares of the soap bar and melt in the microwave for about 30 seconds until runny. When first learning how to make homemade soap, be EXTRA careful not to over microwave the squares. They don’t just get more melty, they BURN like crazy and will stink up your house (noted from experience).
Step 2. Add in your choice of soap dye and scent until you reach the desired color and smell. Then gently pour into your mold. If you want to layer colors, then put it in the refrigerator for a few minutes until it’s hard, then add your next color.
I used a variety of Abbey and Sullivan scents including Berry Orange and Vanilla, Strawberry, and Mango Peach. They all smelled amazing and there are dozens of other scents to choose from.
Step 3. Wait until it’s completely solid, then gently pop out of the mold. It may take a little maneuvering, but it will come out gently with ease.
Step 4. That’s it! I hope you enjoyed learning how to make homemade soap. You’ll love giving away your own handmade soaps in a variety of colors and designs.
Learning how to make homemade soap is such a fun little thing to try out. They make exceptional handmade gift ideas, shower ideas, or even favors for weddings. Just get your mold, scent, and color and get moving! It’s very affordable and who wouldn’t appreciate a handmade gift that you can use to smell extra nice!?
