What’s “in” seems to always be changing – one week it’s leggings from Urban Outfitters and the next it’s Ugg boots at Nordstrom. Thanks, social media. What are some of the best gifts for teens?

Thanks to social media avenues like TikTok, it seems like the perfect gifts for teens are always changing. However, I think there are a few staples out there that remain true.

Firstly, pretty much any teenage girl is going to want beauty products – think moisturizer or Glossier lipstick from Sephora. When I was younger, I always remember scrunchies being some of my favorite stocking stuffers.

Secondly, if your teen doesn’t have a pair of earbuds – they need them! I love Apple airpods – but some people enjoy the wireless bluetooth Beats. As long as they can connect to an iPhone for music, you should be good.

Thirdly, I always like getting a unique gift – typically something at Etsy that stands out to me. There are a lot of shops on there where you can customize a great gift – a hoodie, shirt, water bottle, or even wall art for a teen girls’ room.

Fourthly, if you’re getting a gift for a boy – try going the sports route. Does he like to hoop or play football? If so, get him a jersey or some playing cards from a Nike store. If he’s more of a gamer – you could get him a nintendo switch or Netflix subscription.

Lastly, retro stuff is really in these days, thanks to all the influencers out there. Last year, I got my niece a polaroid camera from Urban Outfitters and she absolutely loved it. She said it made her one of the coolest girls out there!

Either way – I typically use Amazon or Target to find the best gifts if they don’t need to be super specific. At Amazon – it’s so easy to find silly, uncommon goods that many don’t think of. However, Nordstrom & Urban Outfitters are always a great choice for clothing-like items!

What is the best way to find out what a teenage girl wants for Christmas?

This can be a hard one. Sometimes, the best way is to just ask outright. Then, you’ll have the best gift ideas from the start.

If you don’t want to ask though, try asking the best friend or looking at their Pinterest board. There are always great Christmas gift ideas on someone’s Pinterest board, let’s be real.

If you’re still stumped but know their favorite store, you can always get them a gift card. Even to this day Visa gift cards are always on my wish list because you can spend them literally anywhere! Plus, I’m sure a tween would like the freedom that comes with a gift card.
