During the summer months when it’s warm outside, you can grab a book and sit around the fire pit bowl and read. And in winter, when it’s colder out, you can turn the fire pit bowl on and TA-DA…it’s suddenly warm enough for you to enjoy being outside!

Secondly, it’s great for entertaining guests. Whether you have friends or family over, having an outdoor fireplace just screams “good social life”. However, when you’re designing the fire pit area, make sure you think about how many people will be frequenting the fire ring. For example, when I designed my wood burning fire pit, I made sure to put some adirondack chairs and an outdoor couch around the pit so my guests had an ample seating area.

Thirdly, having an outdoor fire pit promotes family fun! During the summer months, our family has a weekly cookout night. My husband gets to grilling on the BBQ and we eat on the patio table outside. Afterwards, we roast s’mores around the stone fire pit. I mean, what’s better than roasting marshmallows with the fam on a summer night!?

For example, firewood is usually the most common (and best option). However, you must use dry and high-quality firewood! Our family uses Kiln Dried Firewood – it really lasts longer and is naturally dry…which is awesome.
