Christmas Wreath Ideas

Whether you’re doing store bought or DIY, Christmas wreaths bring a pop of color to your front door. I love door wreaths because the possibilities are endless – you can create a pinecone wreath, embody a white Christmas in wreath form, or even go for some pom-pom spirit. So, if you’ve been struggling on your wreath decor ideas this holiday season – we’ve got all the Christmas wreath ideas for you below!

Or, read DIY Christmas Ornaments here.

How do you make Christmas wreaths for Christmas?

Before you do anything – read our Christmas Wreath tutorial here.

Have you read it and have your vision ready? If so, let’s get started.

Firstly, you’ll need to create the base. This can be anything from a fresh spruce wreath to wire wreath ring – depending on how you want your holiday decor to turn out.

Secondly, you need to pick a theme. Do you want to go with greenery and deck out a traditional holiday wreath? Or, do you want to add burlap in for a farmhouse look? Some people even love making things like an ornament wreath (see tutorial above) or a pom pom wreath for their home decor.

Thirdly, you need to attach any flower or foliage stems to the base of the wreath – making sure that your entire winter wreath is covered. Typically, I suggest you have hot glue for this part to make sure it all sticks.

Fourthly, you’ll wrap the twine around the stems and tie it – getting rid of any string so it’s not hanging down on your door decor.

Lastly, it’s time to decorate your DIY Christmas wreath however you’d like! Go ham on the candy canes or glue on some Poinsettias – heck, you can even string Christmas lights onto it! That’s why I love Christmas crafts – they style is completely up to you.

How do you decorate a plain Christmas wreath?

Oh, how the possibilities are endless! It really depends on your vision and how you want your holiday decor to look. If you want simple – you can glue some red berries on or string some red ribbon throughout your evergreen wreath.

If you want something more elaborate – get creative! Spray paint your wreath, put snowman and snowflakes on it, heck – attach peppermint candies if you really want to.

Some people like to do styrofoam wreaths, others enjoy hanging jingle bells or magnolia leaves on it to make a beautiful magnolia wreath. Corks, Christmas baubles, eucalyptus – literally anything to make your space feel like a winter wonderland!

However – I will say that I usually stay pretty simple. I like to match my front porch decor to my indoor Christmas decorations and Christmas tree – which are typically pretty traditional. But again, it’s whatever you want and what looks best to you!
