15 Bathroom Remodels
Does your bathroom need some interior design love? I get it. For the longest time, my bathroom sat unfinished with old floor tile and an outdated paint color. I was apprehensive to do a bathroom renovation – I thought the work load and cost would be insane. Well, I’m here to tell you that it did take a lot of work. But there is a way that you can do a bathroom remodel on a budget. Therefore, I’m going to show you 15 bathroom remodels that you can recreate with as minimal stress and money spent as possible 🙂
How much do bathroom remodels usually cost?
According to a recent 2021 study done by Home Advisor, the average bathroom remodel costs $10,944. However, this isn’t an end all, be all number. For instance, the study went on to show that most homeowners spend anywhere from $6,595 and $16,370. This is with outsourcing most of the work – and we all know that labor costs take a huge portion of these amount.
With this being said, that doesn’t mean that you can’t spend less (or more!) than those numbers above. If you’re redoing a small to medium sized bathroom, you can spend as little as $3500 just updating the essentials. On the other hand, if you’re wanting more high-end products, you can spend an astronomical amount!
Another thing to think about is how involved in the remodel process you are going to be. Are you going to hire out a contractor and a designer? Or are you going to be more hands on? There are lots of ways you can incorporate DIY into a bathroom remodel. For instance, I love incorporating a DIY wainscot look.
How do you determine how much a remodel will cost?
This is a very important question! Because prior to your bathroom home improvement, you want to make sure you’ve laid out all the costs.
Firstly, think about the room size. How many square feet? Are you wanting to redo a small bathroom or the master bathroom?
Secondly, do some research on your regional prices. Are home values high in your area? If so, expect to pay about 20% more than the average price. Find friends or people online in your area who have done a similar remodeling project and see who they went with and how much it cost.
Thirdly, think about the quality of materials (or materials in general) that you will be using. For example, a marble countertop is likely to be more expensive than a concrete bathroom countertop.
Fourthly, think about the types of appliances, light fixtures and finishes that you’ll be using. If you want to save money, do research on where you can get supplies for a good price. I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot when I find a local home decor shop near me that I love.
Lastly, think about the furnishings. Where are you going to be purchasing most of your bathroom decor? Think about your budget. For instance, Home Goods may be a better option than Restoration Hardware if you’re trying to save some money.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
Again, this question is totally dependent on your situation. Did you hire a contractor who will solely be working on your bathroom makeover full time? Or did you bring in a contractor who has a few other projects and will be working on your bathroom part time until they get more time in their schedules?
Research shows that if you have a full time contractor, a bathroom remodel will take a little over a month. However, it really could be shorter or longer…it’s really subject to change. And, if you’re doing a small bathroom remodel chances are it will be even shorter.
Additionally, you never know what kind of setbacks you may run into. Plumbing, flooring and electrical work can take a lot longer – and if you have to end up ordering and then waiting on parts, you can only imagine the unknowns. Hah!
