I realize that today’s post may not be interesting to most, but I felt the need to share because I was the person behind the computer a few weeks ago desperately searching for solutions on how to get rid of molluscum contagiosum and not having much luck with the suggestions I was getting. Today I’m sharing something I stumbled upon by searching on Amazon and am happy to report it FINALLY took care of my daughter’s molluscum issue!!
A few years ago (yes, YEARS!) my family was blessed with the virus that is molluscum contagiosum. Never heard of it? Well, it’s a viral skin infection that creates these “bubbles” on children’s skin that makes them itch. They are round, firm bumps that are relatively painless, but do itch when broken open, and the more they are itched the more they spread. And the real kicker…besides the fact that they itch and are ugly and highly contagious? They can take 12-18 months or MORE to go away. First, my son got it on the back of his legs behind his knees. He was miserable and people didn’t understand what was wrong with his skin. After about 18 months it cleared up…and then my daughter got it.
Our daughter’s molluscum was much worse and spread over the majority of her back and as it started to make it own her belly, I realized I couldn’t just “wait it out” like my pediatrician kept instructing. Many pediatricians will say it just has to run it’s course…but when you see your kids itching and scratching and uncomfortable with giant red bumps all over them…you realize you can’t keep WAITING! You need to take action.
So that’s what I did and after trying every “home remedy” I could find…I finally found something that worked!! And within a month of using it, my daughter’s bumps have healed and all that’s left are small red marks with scabs on them. They are almost completely gone and you can no longer feel the bumps through her shirt!!
What did I use?! This product called ZymaDerm for Molluscum Contagiosum! It’s a mixture of natural essential oils that is sold online at Amazon and at Walgreen’s. It should be noted that there is a $10 price difference if you purchase it off of Amazon vs. Walgreens.
I SO wish I had a before picture of her molluscum because you wouldn’t believe how bad it was, but honestly…I didn’t think it would work…like many other things I tried!
Here’s what it looks like after though *Photo was removed due to sick individuals commenting extremely inappropriately about a photo of my daughter’s back with molluscum*…it’s been two bottles and one month and they aren’t raised anymore and they have scabbed over. They no longer itch either. I think at this point they’re just healing now. Sigh of relief for us!! *and for those of you that think…”those bumps don’t look all that much better..” well, you should see the before because they were horrendous. My daycare, I think, thought I was a horrible mom when I told them that there was nothing I could do to make them go away (low and behold their was).
I’m so thrilled we found something that works and I feel so much better about my poor little gal’s back no longer looking horrible for the summer time.
I urge you to check this product out and tell me how it worked for you and I’ll follow up with another photo in a month to show you how it’s cleared up. Best of luck in your molluscum cures!!

My son had this condition on his leg a few years ago. Had no idea what he had. Saw a dermatologist who told us molluscum contagiosum (which we thought sounded like it could be a curse on Harry Potter! ). She put crushed up beatles (!) on the spots. Didnt take long before the spots were gone.
Oh my gosh, I’ve NEVER heard of that!! What a crazy solution! My pediatrician just kept telling us to “wait it out” which was so frustrating. I’m happy you found relief for your kiddo! It’s really the worst thing ever.
My middle son had this in his armpit, and it took about a year before they went away on their own (though lavender and frankincense oils did help him a bit). If his ever come back, I’ll definitely pick up some of this! I’m so glad that it brought your little one some relief!
It’s so awful! I think ZymaDerm is just a combination of essential oils, hence the price tag for the bottle. And it stinks too š but it works. Hopefully you never have it come back!
Thank you so much for this post! My grandson has a bad case behind his knees going on a year and now has spread to his sister and brother! We were told to wait by pediatrician and dermatologist gave us Retin A which only burned their skin. We are giving this a try…thanks so much!
Oh my gosh, I think you’re going to love this product. Our son’s started behind his knees too and itched like crazy, but he learned to just rub them rather than scratch so they wouldn’t break open. Our toddler couldn’t be taught that though and would just scratch like crazy then bleed and it would spread. I hope this gives him some relief.
Will definitely check it out. My son got it too!! It is aweful. After trying essential oils, freezing some and the beetle juice, noting seem to help. We have now changed our plan of attack to heal him from the inside – and it seems to be the most effective approach this far. We cut out gluten, dairy and sugar which all are root causes of inflammation and started taking organic Braggs apple cider vinegar with 2-3 oz of water 1 to 2 times a day. The combination of this is helping so much!!! It has not been easy, especially for an eleven year old, but it has been effective enough for him to keep going!
How many times a day did you use the stuff? I have been using it for a few weeks twice a day!
It’s been a few years…but I feel like we did it for several weeks too. I think we almost went through a whole bottle before we started seeing results. They do get smaller and smaller though over the weeks. Unfortunately, my daughter was still left with some scarring from the molluscum despite our best efforts. š
