Several years ago I fixed up a spare room in my basement and turned it into my craft room. Luckily for me, the previous owners had left two filing cases and an awesome built in desk area that I use for my storage and work area, but there was still more things that needed to be stored, so I simply put up a folding table and use it for a very cluttered and disorganized storage solution for many years. Each time we’d need that table, I’d have to empty off all my supplies and my room would be left a disaster…so I quickly realized I needed to find an alternative way to store my craft supplies and also make the room presentable. When I stumbled across Sauder’s Adept Storage Credenza, I knew immediately that I had to have that in my craft room! Today I’m sharing with you how I came up with some craft room storage solutions with Sauder and how it really transformed my craft room!
I really should show you guys a “before” photo of how horrendously disorganized this space has become after years of craft blogging, but it was really too atrocious. Let’s just say, you accumulate a LOT of stuff when you’re a craft blogger (or even just a crafter in general) and sometimes it’s really hard to organize it into things you can easily find. but with the help of Sauder, I was able to update this space and turn it from atrocious into AMAZING in just one day. My craft room has become a happy place for me again rather than a place of stress because of all the clutter! Sauder creates affordable furniture for your every day needs and it’s a great take on modern and contemporary furniture options at a fraction of the price!!
This piece is so great because I have a little work space on top and then all those cubbies that I can organize my supplies in different boxes. I have a space for all my glassware, my paper cutting/scrapbook paper, my chalk paint, then the floral boxes contain bits and pieces of all things random, and finally at the bottom I have jewelry supplies, stencil supplies, and scrap fabric!
My sewing machine and Silhouette machine have a nice display now too in that room as a great focal point/work station for my supplies!! Before my machines were tucked away and had to be dug out for each use and now they’re front and center and almost a part of the decor!
Since I have a love affair with lots of bright colors, this bright white Sauder piece fit perfectly into my room (except that we inadvertently put the back piece of the unit on backwards, so where it’s black it is supposed to be white — oops).
Another nice thing is that this unit is a credenza and takes up MUCH less space in the room than the table did. So I gain more room and storage in one simple piece that costs $214.99. That’s not a bad ROI!!
This isn’t my first rodeo with Sauder furniture either. Last year we purchased a living room set that matches this very credenza and we LOVE the look of it!! With small children, we’re not in the market for $1000+ furniture options that risk being dented and dinged up with small hands, so we relied on Sauder’s awesome selection to update our house on a budget and provide an updated look without breaking the bank!
My storage credenza took about 2 hours to assemble with great, easy to follow instructions, and only basic tools needed. The box was VERY heavy, so beware you’ll need some hauling help. I love the look of the cottage furniture and the versatility of this piece, it can be repurposed in a kitchen, in a hallway, in a living room…for toy storage. The possibilities really are endless.
