Firstly, if you have a mantel, think about some home decor that you can incorporate that also matches your living space. For instance, some people like to hang a mirror over a wood mantel for a more modern fireplace mantel look.
Or, put a sconce or two over the mantel to provide a bit more light. Furthermore, think about putting a decorative bookcase above the mantel. Um, total design inspiration!
Secondly, think about doing a makeover around your fireplace. For example, if you have a more outdated fireplace area, re-tile it! In this case, it’s a perfect DIY project that will add some texture to the area.
Thirdly, think about setting some decor on the floor around the fireplace. And if you have kids, make sure you use decor they won’t be able to get into!
Furthermore, I’ve seen some people do a flower arrangement next to a wood-burning fireplace or even incorporate a modern stoking kit so you can build up your wood fireplace. Involving the entire wall when deciding how to decorate a fireplace was an idea I really liked reading from this article. Having large fixtures that could really set the tone for a room was one thing I have not tried yet with my home. This sounds like a great way to start, so I’ll ask a fireplace expert to assist me with this for sure.
