Can strollers be used in winter?
Yes, strollers can definitely be used in wintertime! I mean, can you imagine you and your baby stuck in the house all winter? Oh boy, I think I would go officially insane.
However, there are a few precautions that you should take into consideration first before heading out with a stroller on winter roads. Therefore, we’ll go over some of this below.
What are the best strollers for winter?
Firstly, you want to find a stroller with a really good suspension system. This will create a smoother ride for your child (and hopefully a smoother push for you!). Haha!
Secondly, you’re going to want to look for a few different things in a winter stroller. A lightweight stroller in the dead of winter is not going to cut it. Here are some things that can make all the difference:
For instance, large swivel wheels can make a huge difference in maneuverability. Three-wheeled jogging strollers or all-terrain strollers are known for being great in winter weather.
Secondly, you need to think about keeping your baby as warm as possible. For starters, I always look for a stroller that has a big, overarching canopy in case it starts to rain or snow. This is also a great help for hardcore wind.
Thirdly, try to find a stroller with a lockable front wheel. By locking the front wheel, this makes the wheelbase longer and more stable. Therefore, it’s much easier for you to push a stroller through slush or deep snow.
How do you winterize a stroller?
Walking in winter can be oh so chilly! And we know your top priority is to keep your little one warm and comfortable. So, we’ve put together some great tips to winterize your stroller!
This footmuff is THE BEST. It will totally keep your little one cozy with a plush fleece interior, windproof and waterproof exterior and a neck warmer and hood.
Because these skis are life changing. Whether you’re going for a short hike or are snowshoeing up the mountain – you need to try these out.

So cozy…
And, depending on the stroller you get – often times stroller companies sell compatible add-ons. For example, Bugaboo has great strollers with even better winter accessories. My favorite is their Fox High Performance Rain Cover, compatible with most of their strollers.
How do I keep my stroller warm in the winter?
While this may seem like an impossible task when the temperature gauge is reading 20 degrees – it’s possible! I touched on this above, but the Uppababy Cozy Gannosh is the perfect place to start.
Then, you just have to make sure that your kiddo is adequately bundled up. Trust me, you can never have enough mittens, beanies and fleece pants laying around!
