Have a birthday party or work event coming up where you need to bake hundreds of cookies? That sounds like a lot of work…that you just don’t have time for! Therefore, give yourself a helping hand and check out the best cookie presses below.
Who doesn’t love a good spritz cookie right? When you have an insane amount of batches of cookies to bake, making delicious butter cookies can be a dreaded task. This is where cookie presses come in handy! But why are cookie presses so great?
Well, they’re easy to hold and to use! They provide bakers an efficient way to press cookie shapes and usually come with different nozzles and decorating tips. Therefore, you’ll have all the cookie shapes laid out and ready to go into the oven in no time!
For instance, one thing I love about my cookie press is that you can press the cookies out more closely and therefore can fit more on one baking sheet. It’s great if you have a ton of homemade cookies to bake.
Why is my cookie dough sticking to the cookie press?
Typically, when cookie dough sticks to the bottom of the cookie press, it means that the dough is either too soft or the press isn’t greased enough. So, what do you do?
Firstly, try sticking your butter or sugar cookies back into the refrigerator for 4 or 5 minutes to harden it up.
Secondly, I will often put a pinch of flour onto the end of the cookie press in order to squeeze out the cookie discs. It helps make it not as sticky, and then you can produce consistent cookies!
Thirdly, make sure you’re using butter when making the cookie dough! If you don’t use butter, chances are the batter will stick to the cookie press. Most spritz cookie presses come with cookie recipes, so just follow those to a T.
How do you clean a cookie press?
Look at the specific type of cookie press that you have as cleaning directions often come with it. Most stainless steel discs are dishwasher safe along with the barrel and bottom rings. However, if your cookie press isn’t dishwasher safe – hand wash with warm soapy water and let air dry.
Where can you buy a cookie press?
Honestly, I’ve found all of my favorite cookie makers on Amazon. However, Bed Bath and Beyond as well as Williams Sonoma always has a plethora of press options.
Or, go directly onto the website (such as OXO or Wilton) to find a specific cookie gun.
