I’ve been mentioning to you guys how I was planning and styling my first paid event planning job over the past few weeks and Saturday night was the party. I had SO much fun planning it and the owner of the company I was doing it for, my son’s daycare’s corporate party, gave me free reign on the direction I wanted to go. So I decided to go very traditional with red and green and hints of gold.
The dessert table was really fun to style. I created that JOY sign for the main part of the table. Then I used a piece of red satin fabric over the white tablecloth to create a pop of color. The cake stands sat up on gift wrapped box pedestals with ribbon on them. The cake stands themselves had garland hanging underneath them for extra decoration. I hung $2 snowflakes in the windows that I got from the craft store. They were unfinished and I added glitter to them to dress them up a bit.
We served a large variety of mini desserts including mini hot cocoa cupcakes, mini vanilla cupcakes, mini chocolate peppermint cupcakes, pecan tassies, eggnog gingerbread trifle shooters, spiced pear tartlets, and red velvet cake pops…and yes, they were ALL amazing (I may or not not have sampled one of each…we had a lot of leftovers).
The cake pops were from Autumn Lynn’s Chocolate Sins and they were little rudolphs and santa hats. They were honestly one of the party dessert favorites…they were so cute and festive!
We hung hole punched garland from the ceiling connecting in the middle to the chandelier to add some festivity and whimsey to the whole room.
We hired a caterer, Perfect Plate Catering in Delaware, OH, to serve some amazing food including Chicken Valdastano, Vegetable Lasagna, Carmelized Pears in Marscapone Rum Sauce, Vegetable Medley, Roasted Potatoes, Salad, and rolls.
All the food labels were held up with these mini candle cane holders.
The favors for the end of the evening consisted of a take home hot cocoa bar with choice of cookies to go home. The caterer made a KILLER hot cocoa that tasted straight from the North Pole itself and we provided a variety of marshmallows and toppings for guests to dress up their hot cocoa.
My marshmallow tree made it’s appearance as a fun little decoration for the cocoa bar. Cocoa bar toppings included three different types of marshmallows, mini candy canes, chocolate chips, toffee bits, caramel syrup, and creme de menthe syrup.
The Batch Bakery in Columbus made all the desserts (except the cake pops) including these adorable gingerbread men cookies.
Using super cute red striped straws from Bloom Designs, I made marshmallow stirrers with holly mix sprinkles to add a little festivity to the dippers.
The guests could choose between a snowflake sugar cookie or a gingerbread man cookie to go home with their hot cocoa.
One of the other cools things I got to do was hire some entertainment! We had a DJ playing Christmas tunes, while a street magician/comedian walked around the house for an hour doing tricks for the guests. Then later, Santa made a special appearance for a little bit as an added funny surprise!
Overall, the evening went wonderfully and we had SUCH a good time. I cannot thank Michelle, the owner, enough for giving me the chance to plan this party and I do hope I have the opportunity to do this more going forward. Merry Christmas everyone…I’m kicking my feet up for a few days and relaxing!
