Bacon Cheddar Cheese Scone Recipe

Ingredients

  • 5 slices of Farmland Bacon chopped
  • 3 cups of flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoon of garlic salt
  • 1 stick of unsalted butter cut into pieces
  • 1.5 cups of sharp cheddar cheese grated
  • 1 cup of buttermilk plus 2 tablespoons set aside

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  • Cook your bacon until crisp, drain, and set aside on paper towel.
  • Mix together flour, baking powder, sugar, and garlic salt.
  • Fold chunks of butter into dry mixture, not over mixing.
  • Add the bacon and cheese and mix.
  • Add buttermilk and mix until it becomes a sticky dough. Don't overwork.
  • Pull dough from mixture and form into two balls.
  • On a lightly floured surface, flatten dough into 7 inch circles about 3/4" thick and cut each circle into 8 wedges. Transfer wedges to a baking sheet and lightly paint the tops of the wedges with the 2 tablespoons of buttermilk.
  • Bake until golden brown for 22 to 23 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes. Serve warm or reheated.
