This Chocolate Cherry Dump Cake recipe is a paired down black forest cake, made in a slow cooker. This gooey chocolate masterpiece is delish when topped with ice cream and served warm!
1Devil's Food Cake Mix (Plus ingredients needed to make according to package instructions)
114 ozcan sweetened condensed milk
1cupsemi-sweet chocoloate chips
ice cream for serving
Instructions
Spray a large slow cooker insert with cooking spray and spread the cherry pie filling across the bottom.
Prepare devil's food cake according to package instructions. Mix in almond extract if using for that traditional black forest flavor. Pour batter over the cherry filling + smooth out to cover cherries. Cook on low for 3-5 hours, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Mine took about 4.5 hours.
Once cooked through, remove the lid and + turn off the slow cooker. Prepare icing by stirring milk and chocolate chips in a medium saucepan over medium heat until melted.
Once melted, pour icing over the cake. It makes a lot of icing, so feel free to save some of it for serving.
Spoon Cake into serving bowls and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
