Howdy-ho friends!! My name is Candace and I blog over at Vintage News Junkie! I am stoked to be here today visiting with all you lovelies and to allow Abbey more time with her baby girl! Have you seen that ‘lil bundle of yummy?! If not, you gotta follow Abbey on Instagram! And while you’re at it, find me too! <wink>
Now, on with the show… if you don’t have a fresh new baby to brighten your week, perhaps you are ready for Spring?!? I know I sure am!! So I decided to whip up a little spring time vignette!! It’s super simple and took less than 30 minutes!
I’m no carpenter by trade, but I sure know how to work a wood pallet! And that’s what I used to make this little picket fence! And I did a full step-by-step tutorial so you can make one too!! So, here’s what she looked like before I got a hold of her today! She’s old. And has a few age marks… but that’s gonna give me the the perfect finish I am looking for!
You see, it didn’t take me long to realize that in order to get that really pretty worn, chippy finish, you don’t need special paint or special equipment. You just need to start with the right wood! If you start with old wood, then you can paint it with just about any paint and when you sand the edges to distress it, you’ll get that really pretty aged look!
See… the window frame is original paint (old & chippy) and here’s my fence after I painted it… you can hardly tell the difference, right!?!
Now, as for my spring wreath, I made it just like I did my 5-minute Fall Wreath. I snagged an el cheapo grapevine wreath at the thrift store. Took off all of the cruddy 80’s decor and cleaned her up a bit. Then, I took one stem of spring flowers from the craft store and cut them down into small pieces using wire snippers. A liitle dab of hot glue on the ends and stick them into place! Done. And done.
I snagged the little metal heart at Michael’s in the clearance section! And hung it from the middle. I, originally added it for Valentine’s day, but I think it works beyond that!! Don’t you??
A few blue mason jars and an old lantern add to the vintage feel of my spring time vignette… and that’s all!!
It’s been a blast spending some time with you today!! I sure hope to see you over in my neck of the woods soon! And if wreaths are your thing you have to check out my Video Tutorial for a simple Burlap Wreath as well!!
Until next time friends…. Happy Early Spring and we’ll see you over at Vintage News Junkie!!!
