I had the pleasure of putting on a baby shower for a friend this weekend that’s pregnant with her second child. Her older daughter is in high school now, so we’re helping her get completely reestablished for baby number two!! She’s one of those patient people who can wait to find out the gender of their child (I couldn’t wait), so I wanted to find a fun gender neutral shower idea for the occasion. With the help of DimplePrints, I decided on a Rain Shower Baby Shower for my friend. Not only was it kind of fun and different, but she’s a meteorologist, so it was very fitting!
The shower colors were fun light pastels like blue, pink, purple, yellow, green, and gray. I used a simple gray fabric I got from Online Fabric Store for a tablecloth overlay. I wanted the whole dessert table to look very clean and bright, so I used two medium and one large wood crates from Michaels to create height on the table. I spray painted them white and I re-used them for storage in my home after the party…it’s always nice to find party props that can double as something useful later on.
I purchased gray and white spheres from Target to put above the table to simulate clouds. I also purchased a clear umbrella from Target and used white gorilla tape to tape it onto the crate as a nice little addition to the table. From the umbrella, I hung little mini raindrops on ribbon.
What a beautiful party. I am from the Pacific Northwest and partial to rain so the idea of a “rain shower” party is so cute. Well we are awaiting the birth of our second grandchild and I will have a shower for my daughter later this fall. These are some great ideas. Thanks for sharing.
OMGosh, so cute! I’m in love with the umbrella! Pinning to the Monday Funday board! Thanks for linking!
