To celebrate Back to School, as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias®, I made these quick and easy back to school Apple Nachos. Apple nachos may not be the healthiest way to eat an apple, but they’re certainly the most fun way to eat apples! You can make apple nachos ANY way you want really!
My son may only be in preschool, but when he gets home from his busy day at daycare, he’s ready for a quick snack. We do different snacks like Goldfish crackers and string cheese, but I thought it would be fun to cut up some apples, make a peanut butter dip, and top it off with some Nestle candy like Buncha Crunch, Butterfinger Bites, and Dark Chocolate Raisinets.
To start, I made my Peanut Butter Cream Cheese dip to top the apples with. This dip is PHENOMENAL and can be made in minutes. Here’s what you need:
~ 8 oz. bar of cream cheese
~ 1 cup of Peanut Butter
~ 1 cup of brown sugar
~ 1/2 cup of milk
Mix it all together with a mixer and serve with the apples.
Once you’ve made your dip, cut up your apples. My son likes them without the skin on them, so I skin them and then soak them in orange juice to prevent them from browning. It’s amazing how well the orange juice works! The apples stay fresh looking for quite a while, so essentially you could make this early before your kids get home and it would hold over just fine.
Once I was ready to serve my apples, I arranged them in a little pinwheel on the plate and placed a large dollup of peanut butter dip in the center. From there, I drizzled some caramel syrup over top of them. FINALLY I used my Nestle candy to top it all off. I crushed some Butterfingers to sprinkle on top (my favorite!) and then topped with a few Buncha Crunch and Raisinets. Overall, it was AMAZING…and one apple is more than enough for two people to share.
And you could mix up the toppings any way you want to…add chocolate, sprinkles, whipped cream, cookies, or even bake the apples and make it into a warm baked dessert. Use your imagination. Bottom line, this is a quick, easy, and UNIQUE after school snack that your kids will enjoy.
So what do you think? What would you top YOUR apple nachos with?!
