I have a little girly girl on my hands, you guys. She loves all things pink, glittery, and sparkling and when I saw that Plaid Crafts created a new line of Folk Art Glitterific Paint, I knew JUST what to do! For my daughter’s upcoming birthday I decided to take some wooden beads I had on hand and create Do It Yourself Mommy and Me Bracelets!! These Mother and daughter matching bracelets are very simple to make, quite affordable, and the best part is you can choose any colors you want to coordinate with your favorite little lady!
What you need:
FolkArt® Glitterific™ Acrylic Paint in Gold
Folk Art Multi Surface Paint in Baby Pink
Folk Art Brushed Metal Acrylic Paint in Brushed Gold
Gold Leaf and Gilding Cream
I started by painting all my beads. I painted half with the Folk Art Baby Pink paint and the other half with the Folk Art Brushed Metal Brushed Gold paint. From there, I divided them up leaving 1/4 plain gold, 1/4 plain pink, 1/4 glittered gold, and 1/4 glittered/gilded pink.
Glitterific is the newest awesome product from Plaid Crafts and has multiple size glitter particles that are suspended in a crystal clear base to create the most dazzling glitter paint available today! The paint provides mesmerizing, glittery coverage and can be used on wood, metal, glass, canvas, paper, decorative fabrics, rigid plastic. It’s ultra high-gloss and comes in 21 colors! The ones above are just SOME of the colors, more to come soon!
I used my Folk Art Glitterific Gold Paint and dabbed it onto the beads. You have to be generous with the glitter paint so that it really covers well, then lay down to dry.
I painted 1/4 of my gold beads with glitter. Then I used Gold Leaf on my pink beads (apply gilding cream onto the bead with a brush, let dry for a minute, then add leafing over top to get the gilded look). After applying the leafing, I dabbed the Glitterific Paint on my pink beads, as well.
This gives a wide variety of sparkley, girly beads to create a bracelet with! I let my beads dry overnight and touched up any paint issues before I started stringing the bracelets.
I picked out some equally sparkly and girly elastic cording and cut about 8 inches off. I then strung the beads on the cording and used a cute tassel for decoration at the end. I knotted the cording 4-5 times, then trimmed off the excess.
They turned out so cute and we’re thinking of making more for my daughter’s friends for Valentine’s Day! Just think of all the color possibilities with these great Glitterific paints…
I hope you enjoyed this Mommy and Me Bracelet tutorial. Be sure to check out Plaid Online for more information about the new Glitterific Paint!
This is just the SWEETEST!!
