We’ve lived in our house now for 3+ years and it took us SO long to finally tackle our downstairs half bath. Our house is in a development and is very builders grade everything from the floors to the light fixtures, so we’ve slowly but surely been trying to update little things as time goes on. Last year we replaced the carpet in our living room, before that we updated all our kitchen and den light fixtures, and a few weeks ago we started painting all the trim in our house white…WHAT A DIFFERENCE THAT MAKES!
So this weekend we decided to try to finish up our half bathroom. It’s AMAZING how little updates can make a room look so much different. So here’s the “before” “before” photo…because we repainted a few weeks ago and I forgot to take an “official” before photo. So we started with this medium green bathroom and POORLY styled built in shelves above the toilet. I styled them…and poorly…that was years ago before I really started trying to decorate nice with my blog.
Yeah…plain jane, boring bathroom. So we painted it and here’s what the sink area looked like after we painted it a very light greyish green from Ben Moore.
As you can see in the photo…we repainted the walls and then painted the shelves white. The paint is still wet when I took this photo 🙂 Isn’t the color in the bathroom nice? It’s so bright and happy! So then we decided to take the update further with the help of a new light fixture and a mirror frame from MirrorMate. Their frame MADE this bathroom! Here’s the AFTER!
So the first thing you’ll notice is how the lighting completely changed. The old nasty barber shop lighting was so florescent and the new light is so much warmer and softer. And then the MirrorMate frame…OMG. It’s GORGEOUS. All we did was slip that frame over the old mirror and look at the difference it made!
MirrorMate allows you to selection the style and finish of your frame and then you take measurements and they do the rest. They send you detailed instructions on what to do and you install.
Here’s the frame assembled and drying…
Just follow the instructions on how to hang…I’m not going to go through it step by step, but the instructions are very good and clear.
You then use the cardboard to mark where the frame is level and needs to be hung…it’s pretty genius if you think about it!
CRAZY huh? Would you eve know this was the same bathroom by looking at it?? We are crazy in love with it and HONESTLY my favorite part is the MirrorMate frame. It’s amazing.
