What you need:
The idea for this drinks is SOOO simple…simply take a more heavily sugared drink for the bottom (at least 10g of sugar difference) and then a more lightly sugar concentrated drink for the top. In this situation I used cranberry juice for the bottom and I used blue and yellow gatorades for the top. Add some ice, pour your most heavily concentrated drink at the bottom and then the gatorade on top. It actually keeps itself layered!!
Pair with my M&M Superhero Muddy Buddy recipe and you have a recipe for a successful family Disney Infinity game playing evening!!
Additional tips for layering your drinks (due to popular demand and lots of questions):
- The order in which you pour is the most important aspect. You want to start with the liquid that has the greatest specific gravity, and decrease as you ascend. That way they liquids won’t try to pass through each other, which will mostly likely just end in blending. Terrible stupid blending! Start with the sweetest, most sugar dense liquid, and go up from there until you have the least-sweet, least sugary liquid at the top.
- Pouring technique is critically important. This definitely takes a steady hand. If you pour too fast, the top layer will plunge down into the one under it, which will cause mixing. That ain’t pretty, and prettiness is what this drink is all about (prettiness and science).
