Hi guys! This week I’m SOOO busy because I’m putting on a big garage sale at my house (more tips on that soon!). To keep my kids occupied with their sitter during the sale, I’m letting them have a little sale of their own in the form of a cute Lemonade Stand with drinks and treats! To help them amp up the cute factor (which they don’t need too much help with being adorable redheads), I made them this fun DIY Kids Lemonade Stand Sign to put in front of their kids table. Come see how easy it is to make with FolkArt® Home Decor Chalk Paint and new Lilly and Val adorable stencils from FolkArt!
What you need for this project:
Wooden Sign (this one was from Hobby Lobby)
8 oz. Adirondack White FolkArt® Home Decor Chalk Paint
2 oz. Rick Black FolkArt® Home Decor Chalk Paint
Lilac FolkArt® Home Decor Chalk Paint
Paint Brushes
FolkArt Lilly and Val stencil
FolkArt ® Stencil Value Packs – Letter Stencils – Monogram
How to:
This project is SO very simple! Start with collecting your supplies and doing a solid white base coat of Adirondack White FolkArt® Home Decor Chalk Paint. Let the paint fully dry and then you can get to stenciling!
I got these new FolkArt® Lilly and Val stencils recently and I just adore them, so I definitely wanted to incorporate them into this project. I used Rich Black FolkArt® Home Decor Chalk Paint and a stenciling brush to stencil the words onto the sign.
For stenciling the key is to get paint on the brush and then offload the paint onto a spare paper until it leaves just enough to stencil. This ensures that the paint doesn’t get underneath the stencil and bleed.
Why use FolkArt® Home Decor Chalk Paint vs. regular craft paint, you may ask? This paint has a great ultra matte chalk finish and no sanding or priming is needed. it is PERFECT for layering and distressing, but is for indoor use only. FolkArt Makes it in 41 different colors too!
I let my stencils dry then I used some of the Lilac FolkArt® Home Decor Chalk Paint to paint the corners for a pretty, vintage look. I had considered adding more color or stenciling at that point, but I kind of loved the simplicity and sweet vintage look it had with the chalk paint and black and white!
So that was it! I painted, stenciled, then set outside to start our Lemonade Stand!
Isn’t it SO cute?! I think it ups the cuteness factor just a bit and really promotes that “handmade” look that people love.
If your kids like having summer lemonade stands, I’d definitely consider making them a cute and reusable sign for them.
