Hey guys!! Happy Friday. It’s so cold and ugh in Ohio today, so it’s strange to be talking about this, but I’m starting my Coastal Outdoor Patio Makeover this month and I’m pretty excited to show you the inspiration and before shots today. If I haven’t already reminded you 1500x yet…WE MOVED last fall and we’re in a new place now. We’re working room by room by room to fix things up (check out my laundry room from last month) and while I’m working on my kids rooms at the moment, one MAJOR thing on my list of to do’s is to get our Outdoor Patio fixed up….or our Florida Room as some people may also call it. The previous owners built it as an addition and it comes right off the back of our kitchen dining area. It has seven windows and two doors and was built with gorgeous cedar wood on all the walls, with the back wall being brick or the former outside of the house. When we moved in…it just kind of became our dumping ground for lack of anything better to do with it over the winter, but this summer that will change! Let’s look at my inspiration for this patio makeover and my HORRIBLE before pictures!!!
I mean, I’m showing you guys the ugly, ugly disorganization that is the current state of this room and I held nothing back. It’s looked like this for months now and I’m keeping it real with you!!
I have a loveseat in there that you may have seen in the PLAYROOM in the last house…but I’m not digging the color for this space because the room is already dark and I don’t want to paint the wood or brick.
So first off, I plan to cover the loveseat in a white slipcover. I also plan to either redo the shelves or get them out of the space because my kids really won’t use this room as much now that all the bedrooms are on the same floor and their toys are in their rooms.
See that “awesome” lamp on the brick wall there? That will also be replaced with something else more fun and fitting for the space. And of course, I need to add some sort of window treatments to the space!
So now that you’ve seen the ugly….let’s check out the pretty plans for the future!
First off, I’ve given myself a $750 budget on this project. I discovered At Home stores and their huge selection of great products with really great prices…so I started shopping there. I was pretty excited to discover that At Home has a “favorites” page that you can log on and save all your favorites so that when you go shopping, you have your list of what you liked and the department to find it!! I was able to save all my finds through my searches to my favorites and it really helped me picture how all the pieces would coordinate together…check it out.
It also keeps a running track of my total on the upper right so that I can stay on budget and determine what’s really important to me! Things add up FAST, so this was a huge help!
Now onto the fun stuff…what I HAVE to have for this space!!
From left to right top to bottom: Black Lattice Coffee Table, Modern Glass Pot, Blue Spa Side Table, White Curtains, Rocking Wicker Chair, Rug, Lantern, Pentagon Light Holder, Chair Cushion, Terracotta Pot, Striped Boxes
So as you can see, I want a light, bright, and airy space. Even though the walls will be the cedar color they are now, I envision airy white curtains on the windows, a bright rug on the floor, and pretty white wood and glass decor in the space.
Not pictured, I intend to add some succulent planters on the walls to bring the outdoor in a bit. I also intend to replace the fan, add a slipcover to the couch…and what we REALLY want is a hammock chair in the space. My husband wants a hammock so bad, but I want it in the enclosed space for lounging bug free, so we’re exploring hanging chair options, as well!
I cannot WAIT to show you guys the fun stuff coming up for this space!! Stay tuned for more updates over the next few weeks!
