A few weeks ago I was heading down to Cincinnati to visit my brother for the weekend. The evening before we headed down I saw on Sawdust and Embryos Facebook page that they were going to be in Cincinnati for the weekend for a blogger Habitat for Humanity event sponsored by GMC and that they needed help! I was SO excited to finally have some blogger pals heading to Ohio (nothing EVER happens in Ohio!), so I contacted Bethany and asked her if I could help out and where to meet.
Bright and early Sunday morning me and my future sister in law headed into downtown Cincinnati to check out what the girls were up to! Working on the home was Taryn from Design, Dining + Diapers, Beth and Nick from Sawdust and Embryos, Allison from Two Thirty Five Designs, Amy from The Idea Room, and Danielle from Finding Silver Pennies. Some of the girls I had met before and others I was meeting for the first time.
So first thing first, I took a quick look around the place and checked out all their goodies they gathered up from the World’s Longest Yard Sale. This barn door, for example, that Danielle found was AMAZING…she ended up using it as a headboard for her master bedroom reveal. Each blogger drew a room that they had to decorate on a $250 budget (photo via Finding Silver Pennies).
What I ended up helping with mostly was this BRILLIANT idea from Beth and Nick to paint a backsplash in the kitchen! It’s SO much easier than you’d think! Here was the end result (photo courtesy of Sawdust and Embryos):
Yes, that backsplash was PAINTED on!!

I don’t want to steal their thunder because I helped with about 1% of the total experience, but I had to share about this fun experience and all the talent at work! Check out each of their blog posts about their experience AND see their gorgeous room reveals! You’ll be SHOCKED at what they each put together for $250!! It’s amazing!
Thanks ladies for letting me join you for a little part of your adventure! Come back to Ohio soon!
