Living the country life, I come across my fair share of wildlife from deer and coyotes, to a wide variety of insects and creepy crawlies…including bees. Bees are SO important to our environment and I’m always encouraging my kids to not be scared of them and just leave them ‘bee’ (pun intended). So today I want to share with you a delicious Honey Peach Muffin recipe to celebrate my bee friends, as well as help my new friends at Heavenly Organics get their message out about their Clean Bee Campaign.
The company is working to raise awareness about chemical contaminants found in honey and the “not-so-sweet” side of honey. September was National Honey Month and the honey industry was a-buzz with over $553 million in annual retail sales in the U.S. and strong category growth. However, issues like Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) and factory bee farming continue to plague the industry. As a solution to the not-so-sweet side of honey, Heavenly Organics®, manufacturer of 100% organic, raw honey from wild beehives, is committed to building awareness of the detrimental impact that pesticides and chemical antibiotics are having on honeybee colonies with the launch of its “Clean Bee” campaign.
As part of the “Clean Bee” campaign, Heavenly Organics is launching a series of videos portraying a loveable, but troubled bee character named “Benny the Bee.” Benny offers a satirical glimpse into the life of a domestic honeybee, where he is exposed to dangerous pesticides when he’s out pollinating and foraging and then administered chemical antibiotics by his beekeeper once he gets back to the hive box. Repeated exposure to these chemicals can severely impact a bee’s life and its entire colony from death to illness, to being lost and confused to colony contamination. Not only that, the chemicals can accumulate in hive boxes and end up in the honey. Yuck!
In contrast to domestic honeybees living in boxes, there are free range honeybees living in wild beehives in the untouched forests of Northern and Central India and parts of the Himalayas. These wild beehives contain the purest and most delicious honey available worldwide. This is where Heavenly Organics honey comes from and it is unlike any other honey on the market.
Heavenly Organics Raw Honey is 100% organic and Non-GMO Project Verified, which is unattainable in most regions today. Since these naturally occurring, wild beehives are found in such remote areas, the bees are far from the reach from pesticides and other pollutants. Also, since these bees live in wild beehives, and don’t have beekeepers, they are never exposed to chemical antibiotics.
Heavenly Organics father/son founders, Dr. I.S. Hooda and Amit Hooda, have cultivated relationships with indigenous honey harvesters in India to create a proprietary, sustainable, bee-friendly and smoke-free way of honey harvesting. These harvesters go out during the day to locate these huge wild beehives (one tree can have as many as 50 hives) and then return at night, while the bees are docile, to collect the honey. The harvester climbs a tree, gently brushes away the bees and then cuts just a portion of the hive away leaving the queen and the colony intact. Unlike smoking, this method reduces the incidences of harming the bees, the hives, and eliminates forest fires. The hive then regenerates within 15-20 days and is ready for additional harvests. Heavenly Organics never heats the honey above natural hive temperature and only lightly filters it, which preserves the pollen, vitamins, minerals and live enzymes found in raw honey.
Heavenly Organics 100% organic, raw, pesticide & antibiotic free and sustainably sourced honey is available in three rare and unique varietals: White, Neem and Acacia.
Heavenly Organics operates on the belief that profits can create peace and will continue to respect the earth, animals, humankind, and all who contribute to the circle of life. With Heavenly Organics, goodness comes in many forms.
