A few weeks ago we started and semi-finished our half bathroom makeover. We repainted the whole room a nice light grayish green, installed a gorgeous new light, used a MirrorMate on our builders grade mirror, and painted the built in shelves and bathroom cabinets white. Now the decorating has started…I started with my 10 minute spring flower wreath that dons the top of the shelves and this weekend I made this fun “Hello Sunshine” sign.
When I was at SNAP last weekend I bought the little “hello” wood sign for $7 at Queen Bee Market. Then at one of the classes during the conference we started a sign that said Hello Sunshine on it, but when I brought it home I had a different vision for it. So I painted the base light blue and then used my Silhouette to cut out Sun Shine in vinyl. I applied the letters and painted over it white so just a little of the blue would show through. From there I painted my little hello sign a light creamy yellow and I peeled off the vinyl to reveal the blue lettering. After that I hot glued my hello sign on and put it up in my bathroom where I think it’s PERFECT!
I’m sorry for the dark photos…there is no natural light in that bathroom or its hallway, so it’s hard to get them looking nice and bright. The little vases on the right and left of the sign were originally clear, but I used the same yellow paint and complimentary green colors to swirl paint around the inside of the vases to add some color. I also used leftover flowers from my wreath to put into the vases to tie it all in….
So now I have 2 of three shelves decorated…I’m loving the blue mason jar complimenting the Hello Sunshine sign…I have some plans in mind to decorate with a few prints and frames for this space. 🙂 What would YOU do with these shelves? Ideas?
