Sometimes during the course of a hectic week or the busy holiday season, it’s easy to lose sight of what’s really important. Today, with the help of my friend from One Artsy Mama, I am showing you how to make your own printable to remind you of what’s really important in life! I asked Amy to hand letter the following quote for me and I turned it into an easy sign you can make for your home too!!
“Life is full of give and take. Give thanks and take nothing for granted.”
Supplies:
Wood Pallet Sign (Hobby Lobby)
Small Round Plaque (this is from Bucilla)
Give and Take Printable download for FREE via One Artsy Mama
FolkArt Milk Paint
Hot Glue
Ribbon
Mod Podge Photo Transfer
How to:
Start by downloading this hand lettered adorable free print from my friend Amy at One Artsy Mama. Isn’t she so talented? After you download it, you’ll want to “flip” the image so that when you place it face down on your wooden plaque, the letters face the way they should. Trace your plaque onto the paper and use scissors to cut it out.
Next, you’ll want to use your Mod Podge photo transfer and with a brush, layer it on THICK directly onto the paper. You will want a thick coat on the paper before you place your paper face down onto the plaque. Once on the wood, you will want to gently push out any air bubbles and then let it sit for a full 24 hours to dry.
After 24 hours has passed, you will use a wet washcloth to gently wipe away the paper, leaving your design. You may have to wipe a few times before all the paper is off, but your design will remain.
After I wiped the paper off, I used some milk paint in blue and teal hues to lightly “wear” the pallet I chose and to add some color and dimension. This isn’t necessary, but I thought it gave it kind of a fun, barnwood look and added some color to the piece.
Then I hot glued my plaque onto the center of my pallet and added a fun bow to the corner. Again, not necessary, but I liked it 🙂
I’m really happy with how it turned out. It’s a good reminder for us all and is something definitely different and more fun than your standard framed printable!
Thanks again to One Artsy Mama for the free printable. Download it here.
This is so cute!!
