As you guys may or may not remember, I’m a Plaid Crafts Creator and in March I got to visit Plaid Craft headquarters in Atlanta, GA to see where the magic happens!! While I was there, I got to play with SO many cool new products that you’ll be seeing me use in the next few weeks!! If you want to see more about our trip, you should check out the You Tube video at the end of this post! It was such a great trip with so much crafting!!! One of the new products we got to see while there was this fun new Bucilla ® String Creations™ Stitch Blanks. I’ve honestly never done anything with stitching before, but I figured, why not give it a try?! I made this cute Vintage Americana String Creation using the USA Map Stitch Blank, along with some fabric, an embroidery hoop, and a little twine. Check out how easy it is…..
Americana String Creation
Products Needed:
Bucilla ® String Creations™ Stitch Blanks
Paint Brush
Embroidery Hoop
Hot Glue
Blue Twine
Decorative Ribbon
How to:
Start by painting your Stitch Blank. I used tape to tape it off down the middle and create a nice crisp line. Then I painted the top half. I left the bottom half blank because I liked the natural finish.
After painted, I took a needle and threaded it with blue twine. I am from Ohio, so I wanted to make a little starburst effect from Ohio all over the map. I stitched the whole map and then taped it off at the bottom. Given that stitching isn’t really something I’m great at, I just kind of played around until I got it looked the way I’d hoped. Here’s what the end result looked like….
After the stitching was done, I put some gingham fabric I had on hand into an 8″ embroidery hoop. I then hot glued my map onto the hoop and added some ribbon decor I had to make it fun and vintagey!!
I love how it turned out and can’t wait to add it to my Memorial Day and July 4th mantle decorations!! Soon to come!!
