Dream Big Wood Connection Sign

This week wraps up Round Three of Blog Wars on Just Between Friends.  And I was kicked off in Round Three, it was a lot of fun though while it lasted and even if my sign wasn’t as popular, I still LOVE IT! Here’s theRound Three Results Post.

This week we were given a wooden slat sign from The Wood Connection for our crafting medium and I chose to make the Dream Big sign that you saw! Hopefully you voted for too!

I used my Silhouette to make a lot of this sign, but here’s what I did:

What you need:

Wooden Sign or board to create sign

Vinyl or stencils for words

Scrapbook paper for hot air balloons (I got mine from Michaels)

Paint/Thompson’s Sprayable Wood Stain

stained sign

I started by using Thompson Sprayable Wood Stain to stain my Wood Connection board. I sprayed it on the board and then rubbed it in evenly using an old rag.

You’ll probably need to apply three or four coats of spray to the board to get the desired look. From there I started my stenciling…

I used my Silhouette to cut out vinyl in the fonts that I wanted (I used Bebas Neue font and Wisdom Script)…

Dream Big Capture

I designed the whole thing in Silhouette and cut it out and applied it using transfer sheets.

Afterwards I painted the board and then cut out balloons on scrapbook paper using my Silhouette and here’s how it all turned out….

I love how this sign turned out! I hope you guys enjoyed it too! :)

I really loved the way this turned out Abbey! It is SO cute and I love the message behind it as well. It has inspired me to create something similar for my girl’s room. Thanks for being part of the competition! Your projects were all incredible.
