One of the best parts about Easter is all the amazing Easter candy out there…it’s hard to turn down all the different “egg” shaped candy walking down the aisles. I have to say that there’s something about an egg shaped Reese’s peanut butter cup that makes it THAT much better, are you with me?! So I was walking through Walmart and found these adorable marshmallow eggs and thought it would be fun to come up with a DIY chocolate covered marshmallow egg for Easter. Because anything egg shaped dipped in chocolate has to be good, right?!??!
And even more…anything egg shaped, chocolate dipped, on a stripey straw just has to be even THAT much more amazing! And I’m not joking…these little suckers are good. And easy to make.
So I had all of the stuff on hand already (I have way too much colored chocolate dipping candy to admit to).
Here’s what you need:
Marshmallow Eggs (these were also flavored, which really added to the fun of these little treats!)
Colored chocolate melts–from Michael’s or JoAnn’s
Striped Straws
Sprinkles–from Target
So I started by cutting my straws in half with a knife and cutting board and putting the eggs on the straws. They go on easily and shouldn’t give you any issues.
I think they’re pretty just like this, but the chocolate topping really is AMAZING with the soft marshmallow and the sprinkles.
Then I separated out my chocolates and melted them each in the microwave for about 2-2.5 minutes. That’s what I love about these melts is they are really easy to melt and use.
From there I just dipped my marshmallows into the chocolate, used the spoon to cover, and then just evened it out nicely and placed it on a plate with wax paper to dry and harden in the fridge.
I love how springy they are! Let your eggs harden for a bit in the fridge, then pull them out and enjoy the crunchy chocolate on the outside and the soft gooey marshmallow in the middle. I’m not a huge marshmallow fan, but I really enjoyed these little guys!
This marshmallow was key lime flavored and with the white chocolate….YUM. And it’s SO pretty!!!
You can display your little egg treats in an Easter basket and take them to your next Easter Brunch later this month as a fun treat everyone will enjoy! Have fun!
So cute! Thanks for sharing.
Oh wow…all those colors! These are too cute 😉
Oh my goodness…I almost made these same marshmallow egg pops!! I just spotted the marshmallows at Walmart over the weekend and almost bought them, but decided I didn’t need any more sweets in my house 🙂 so I will live vicariously through you and admire your really pretty marshmallow treats from your photos :):)
Love how they turned out
