First off…Happy Birthday to my little baby boy, Andrew. Not so much a baby…three years old (or “tree” as he’d say). Today is over and my son’s Toy Story birthday party is in the books. This year I did MUCH lower key than his Candy Corn Birthday Party from last year, but I still tried to add several special touches for the event. I LOVE party planning, but I gotta admit that sometimes it’s fun to just have immediate family and a few close friends to celebrate. And I think this was, by far, my most favorite birthday to date of his.
He LOVES Toy Story and even though most of the time I’m totally turned off by character parties, I wanted to do what would make HIM happy. I worked with DimplePrints to create Toy Story pattern inspired prints and used our own collection of Toy Story toys to make his Toy Story birthday party more unique.
We got the cake from Three Little Cakes in Cincinnati. They did such a great job. The top was chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling and the bottom was vanilla with vanilla filling.
I purchased small characters from the Disney Store to embellish the cake.
The top layer was matched with Woody’s shirt and the bottom layer with his vest. I added a cow hide print tablecloth with fabric I got from JoAnn’s and a bandana for the center of the table also from JoAnn’s.
Here’s a view of the kitchen. I used Andrew’s Woody hat from his Halloween costume for the table and I also used other figures and “dolls” he already had for decoration.
DimplePrints created the Toy Cowboy inspired prints, but the licensed character prints I found on another site, Over the Big Moon, for free. I used a few of their signs and their cupcake toppers for garland.
The free cupcake toppers from Over the Big Moon were converted into a garland hanging off my kitchen counter.
DimplePrints created the banner, water bottle wrappers, and food labels for me. Since I had only immediate family and two friends, we didn’t do an invitation this year.
Water bottle wrappers are one of my favorite ways to personalize a party. It’s so easy to do and really makes the party more official (to me at least).
Our Woody Halloween decoration was the perfect fall tie in to our decor.
The napkins were wrapped with sheriff badge napkin wrappers courtesy of DimplePrints. The party horns were from Party City.
I had super cute cookies made from The Batch Bakery in Columbus. She was so easy to work with and I can’t wait to use her again. I love it when I find vendors who just “get” your vision.
Andrew’s birthday shirt was sent to us by old friends of ours as a gift. They ordered the shirt from Lil Threadz on Etsy. It came the day before his party and was the perfect addition! He was so excited to see all his favorite characters on it!
For the food, I used cute food tags courtesy of DimplePrints. I added stickers I purchased from Michael’s to incorporate the characters on them. I tried to match the characters up with the food a little bit too. Bullseye’s Carrots and Ranch…
He also talked all week about balloons, so we got some fun Buzz and Toy Story balloons for him from Party City.
I love this little boy more than anything and can’t wait to celebrate more birthdays with him.
Happy Birthday, darling!
