Do you love and appreciate homemade gifts as much as I do, but don’t always have the time for a super complicated project? Today I’m showing you a simple and easy way to show your love without costing you tons of money or time!! This 10 Minute Sharpie Mug is perfect for a DIY Valentine’s Day gift!!
For this tutorial you will need:
White Mug (got mine for $3 from Target)
Sharpies in selected colors
Vinyl letters or stencils (mine are from Hazel and Ruby Handmade)
How to:
Start by applying your letters onto the mug. Make sure the mug is freshly washed and clean and they sometimes suggest using rubbing alcohol to create an exceptionally clean surface.
After that, start making small little dots around the letters just by tapping the mug gently with the very tip of the sharpie. I used three different colors, so I tried to stagger them out a bit at first. By the end you want to have them closely enough together so that you can make out the letters.
My Sharpies actually changed in color a bit after they tried on the mug. What started as dark pinks turned a purple hue on the mug, but that was ok with me…still looks cute. Next you remove your vinyl and VOILA!
Once done, pop in the oven on low for about 20 minutes to help set the marker in. Let cool and handwash.
The whole thing took a matter of minutes…just think, you could stick a gift card in the mug, add candy, add some tea bags, or just put it in a pretty box and give it as a gift to a friend or loved one!!
