Bathroom vanity lighting can be SO tricky sometimes because there are so many options and styles that you can choose from. Perhaps you want a traditional light fixture, but then comes the finishes–are you a brushed nickle kinda person? Or perhaps you love the rustic look of oil rubbed bronze! Then we’re starting to see brass and copper coming back, as well as the traditional chrome fixtures….OR you can get crazy and go with some old world charm that a farmhouse fixture may bring. The options are endless! So how do you narrow them down?! Today we’re sharing some bathroom vanity lighting ideas that will hopefully get your wheels turning about your bathroom style!
This first look is from Beckie at Infarrantly Creative. She has a great rustic light fixture in her bathroom with her homemade scrap wood mirror. The whole room has so much character and charm and the light fixture is a true statement piece! These are my personal favorites!
I redid TWO bathrooms in my old house (and have three more to go in my new house) and I had a very mixed style. In my master bathroom, I preferred a very simple, classy look like the chrome light fixture shown below. It was classy, elegant, and provided exceptional lighting for my room. Paired with a framed in builder’s grade mirror, I was able to update the bathroom quickly and easily in NO time! Read more about it HERE.
In my kids’ bathroom in the last house, I went nautical with this super fun and unique navy blue light fixture!! It was made to my liking and I actually took it down and boxed it up before we put the house on the market because it was too cool to leave behind!! The before and after is very fun and makes you realize what a difference some paint, a light, and an upgraded mirror can make!! See my Nautical Bathroom for more info!
Taryn from Design Dining and Diapers nails her bathroom makeover and update with her signature style…a great mix of Modern Farmhouse with gorgeous style!! The fixture is super simple, galvanized metal paired with a great black mirror and planked walls. It’s an amazing mix of modern and rustic!!
Another great way to envision your bathroom is to create a mood board to pair all your finds together! Tracie from Cleverly Inspired created this moodboard with her bathroom light fixture selection and paired it with her blinds, room color, mirror, and more! You get to see how all the items you’re eyeing look together and if you think they’d do well! You can find many free online programs to easily create something like this!
Ashley from Cherished Bliss really wowed me with this outside the box lighting idea. All too often we think of flush and semi-flush mountings for bathroom vanity fixtures, but why limit yourselves? Ashley installed gorgeous pendant lighting over her bathroom and combined with the gorgeous vanity and decor, the whole room makes me green with envy!! I just love her style!
Kimm from Roadkill Rescue has an even better solution to replacing the fixture! Why not just make it better? She shows how to update your fixture into a finish you’ll enjoy with this trick on Painting Your Bathroom Fixture!! So brilliant! Don’t you just love the edison bulbs in there!?
Jamielyn from I Heart Naptime had another great idea…she used sconces on either sides of her stunning mirrors to really create an elegant, simple, classy look. Her bathroom makeover is nothing short of stunning!
Jen from Tatertots and Jello takes a very simple bathroom fixture and gives it a vintage look paired over top of scalloped edge mirrors for her daughter’s bathroom update. The whole room is has such character and charm to it and has the perfect mix of vintage and modern!!
Cori from Hey, Let’s Make Stuff, shares another traditional light fixture, but paired with double mirrors that have a lot of character and a bold vanity, the room takes on a whole new life with just a little extra work!!
And finally, this Graphic Glam Master Bathroom Makeover from Angela at Blu I Style is SO fun! The lights in this bathroom are TRULY a statement piece and are SO unique and modern. And when paired with the bold stenciled wall, it’s definitely a bathroom that your guests won’t soon forget!!
Each bathroom fixture almost tells it’s own story about your style, vision, and uniqueness. Are you more of a traditional person or do you like the bold look. Or maybe you like vintagey pieces that bring your guests a sense of homeyness and quiet. Choose your style and create Pinterest boards or mood boards to help pull it all together. I find myself rushing into things and regretting them later, so take the time to plan out your room color, overall style, and what types of decor you want in there. The more time you spend planning the space, the more likely you are to LOVE it for a long time.
Hopefully this helps you with your bathroom remodeling projects! Be sure to visit the bloggers mentioned and give them your feedback on their spaces! Which is YOUR favorite?!
I like that you’ve suggested having the time to plan everything about the room such as the fixtures and the types of decoration to prevent regretting later. I have been planning for almost two days now about my bathroom vanity area. Now, I think I might have to start looking for items to materialize my ideas. Thanks for the tips!
